If I bring in thousands periods of breathing meditation some millions times the attention on the breath will the mind start calming own, many thoughts disappearing and just maybe all the thoughts only at the end of the last period after thousands periods? 1 period= some thousands times bringing the attention on the breath

Is it possible that the first effect of Vipassana, the weakest, to appear for the first time after 12 months(53 weeks) of very intense practice(every day) ?

danielted,
I have recently started practicing vipassana/mindfulness.... Great books for beginners in meditation are  Bante Henepola Gunaratana's books on meditation and the eightfold path.... The revised edition of "Mindfulness In Plain English" and "Eight Mindful Steps To Happiness"..... Very good way to start if you dont have access (like myself) to a teacher....

Thanks!

Ignore anything in these books that refers to your nose.

Welcome to the forum danielted. Feel your way on this path, don't think your way too much. A bit of both yet feeling is underestimated in the world so get a grip of that  first.
