this has happened to me in semi-lucid-dreammy states.
I reallize that I'm dreaming than I open my eyes and then they're open in the dream-body, but I'm not awake, then I open them again, and sometimes I do manage to wake up.

Dear Flip, when I read Castaneda ten years ago, I tried to do following exercise: consciously raise my hands and look at them while dreaming. I tried it for several months without result, and then suddenly it happened. In this moment I had "two pairs of eyes open": I was aware of my dreambody as well as of my real body at the same time (or better: I brought my consciousness into my subconsciousness) ...
I was flipped ;D ) out of my bed and found myself breathless two metres away lying on the ground   :o

But this quote means something different. It means: First you see the world as it seems to be, then you "open your eyes again", you see the world as it really is, which is the translation of "Vipassana".

Metta to you! Stefan

(PS.: I "stole" this quote from Terry Pratchett, I don't know wether he invented it or "stole" it himself ... but does it matter?)

And when you are talking with someone ... watch their eyes ... they will always tell you more than the mouth.

I agree the eyes can tell a lot, but so does the mouth if you really HEAR.

looooooool

All true :) - except the bit about the soul .... I understand we don't have one but that the concept is mere wishful thinking ... according to Gautama in any case.

Well, soul ... it's a definition thing, I believe ... we had that already.
But I am not a Buddhist ( and I am not a no-Buddhist), I am allowed to use this word  ;D

For Gautama's followers
Eyes: Windows to the no-self
No-Tara
 :)

edit: for no-Gauthamas no-followers
no-eyes: no-windows to the no-no-self
 no - :)

just a matter of words really

Metta, still-Stefan (can't help it ...)

@ Matthew: only kidding. I know there's MUCH more behind your quote than only words. Maybe I'll second you when I reach a further level.
