Vipassana Course
« on: November 23, 2007, 05:04:10 PM »
I was booked to do a Vipassana course with the Goenka school. I was looking forward to being in a practice environment but can not do it. My body is not up to it. I may decide to do a home retreat.

When are you planning to do your home retreat? I ask this because next week, on wendesday i start a ten day course on the Goenka tradition, my fourth to be exact.. maybe we'll be retiring at the same time and that's good inspiration for me :)

I was due to start my first ten day Goenka course Tuesday. I may retreat before then.

I'm sorry to hear you had to cancel a Goenka-retreat. It is really inspiring to sit together with fellow meditators for ten days.

I have a curious question: You know a lot about meditation. In Goenka-courses it is required to do exactly what the teacher advises and not to add different techniques, at least for the ten days. Would you be able to do so? Even if you thought you'd know it better? I have a friend who had problems with leaving all her experience and knowledge outside the entrance and start anew. She was struggling for ten days and had a bad "hangover" afterwards.

I didn't do buddhist meditation before the course, but still it was difficult for me not to add something from other techniques.
