Ego and Meditation
« on: October 16, 2007, 11:30:44 PM »
One of the most amusing cosmic jokes of all time is that when you become a truly dedicated practitioner of meditation you have made a very peculiar kind of decision. What decision?

You have made an ego-based decision to get rid of your ego.

Comments or discussion appreciated.

;) In the Dhamma,

jajaja   :D true but, if not from ego, where would we take the decision from?

Hedonism may be another excuse: I will renounce to the realm of senses and all pleasure providers to achieve the highest pleasure of all: Nibbana.

Best decision that nuisance every made!  But, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Letting go to receive, removing ego to become who you really are, not trying to gain everything...is the universe laughing at us or what?!
The best type of meditation is the one that you'll do

I often wonder how we managed to get it so completely wrong, and at which point it all started going wrong (talking about our minds and ego).
