Whats the difference between Muslim prayer and Buddhist Meditation?

Not an important question I absolutely do not need to know thsi im not here to waste important peoples time but this is interesting to me and maybe to you too. 

What is the difference because what they do is like a very structured formal meditation for awareness and you can see it in their eyes as they go about their day.

I do notice also that they tend not to be cheerful or happy, depsite the obviously high level of awareness training they have done why is that?

Prayer in any theistic tradition is to God(s).

Meditation is an exploration of "what is".

The former is predicated upon beliefs ( a form of explanation of phenomena not understood). The latter is an attempt to understand phenomena.
