New Kadampa Tradition

Hello,

The NKT are starting meditation groups / talks in my town. They are the only Buddhist group around my area.

I have heard of a few controversy's with Dalai Lama and some have even described them as a cult.

Has anyone here had any contact with them and could share some thoughts?

I visited one of their centres once because I read a very good book by their guru & because they were advertising everywhere. They were a bit cliquey and cultist but not intrusive or aggressive towards me. I enjoyed my visit & the teachings they gave. If you are independent, you can visit and meditate and take whatever suits you.

As for their position on the Dalai Lama, I cannot disagree with it. It seems the Dalai Lama was engaged in religious persecution of a Tibetan sect. See video:
