Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) - free 8 week course.
« on: October 26, 2016, 10:54:38 AM »
This post is just to inform everyone of the existence of a _free_ online MBSR course.
It lasts 8 weeks, It's supervised by a qualified MBSR instructor.

A new student group will be created this coming Saturday 29th October.
I intend joining this group -- if anyone would like to join me -- feel free :)

I see this as an opportunity to broaden and deepen my mindfulness
knowledge and skills.  The course requires that you meditate for 30+ minutes
per day, 6 days per week, for 8 weeks... i find that requirement quite attractive.

There is a student group, they hang out in a private facebook group.
(so you'll need a facebook account -- or set yourself up with a temporary facebook
account specifically for this purpose -- as i have done)
The name of the facebook group  is:
"Palouse Mindfulness Online Student Community"
(This is a private group, so you can't see it on facebook unless you're invited)

For me it's an attractive detail that there's a student group, because it means
i'm not studying this stuff alone with no one to chit-chat with about the
theme and content of the course.  There is something about waggling that
lower mandible  that makes human beings "happy"... or "happier".

If you're interested and would like to know more... then visit this site:

If you'd like to start the course and join in with the student group,
then you should read this page:

There's a 'Worksheet'  that you must print out and
answer the questions it contains (what you expect from the course,
your strengths, when can you meditate etc)

Then send an email, with your answers to the Worksheet questions,
(The addressee is David Porter - he runs the course)
To your email,  add a note of which city and country you live in.

In case a mod believes i'm 'advertising' ...
I'd like to point out that the course is free... and so ... not-for-profit.
Of-course, MBSR is  _the_ landmark therapy within mindfulness.
It's a free educational opportunity of potential benefit to this community.

Right.. that's it.
That's my good deed for the day.
Now i can go back to being evil for the rest of the day ;-)

Good find :)

Thank you.

Perhaps, Matthew, if you joined in, you'd encounter something new,
maybe learn some new skills... take away some new perspectives...
I gather the original MBSR course had elements of 'mindful walking' and
'mindful Hatha Yoga'.   So... there might be new and interesting stuff here for you.

Just a thought :)

The new MBSR student group is about to be formed.

The facebook group is called:
'5th Online Student Community'

This is a 'closed' group.
Which means, you have to be invited to join.
If you would like to join...  now is the time to speak up.
See the the first post in this thread for instructions in starting this _free_ MBSR course.
