No thoughts during meditation
« on: January 11, 2016, 11:53:57 PM »
During my Mediation, I am able to observe energy/sensations through out my body. I focus on the energies during the meditation. I also notice a pleasant sensations (bliss?) in my heart and spine

But most of the time, i don't get any thoughts. How can I observe thoughts as it is being told here in the forum discussions, when don't get it?

LM, isn't it a good thing that you are able to meditate without your thinking interfering? It is not a must that you have to observe thoughts while meditating. The instruction is that as and when thoughts arise in the mind while meditating, just observe them instead of reacting to them. You only need to do this when thoughts occur. If no thoughts occur, that is well and good, continue observing the sensations with equanimity. Hope this clarifies.
Let's go beyond this illusion, shall we?

Hi Love_Meditation

Thank you for your post. It made me look more closely as to what actually is or constitues a thought, which was interesting... I would consider the internal production of language, like “this is a pleasant sensation”, as a thought.

In any case, you seem to have cultivated a mind that is rather calm and concentrated. What you might also want to consider is the following: Calm and concentration could be goals in themselves, if that is what you’re looking for. In contrast, these qualities are usefull to investigate and gain insight into the nature of the human experience, in which case you would want to open the beam of your attention/awareness some more...

Kind regards,
Alex

Walking meditation or mindful walking will also give more opportunity to observe thoughts...

In October you were very troubled by thoughts in meditation, as you wrote:

Since I took a new short term, Contract job, I am unable to focus during meditation.  All the thoughts from the work place keep bothering me while meditating. .....

Has something changed in your practice?

Kindly,

Matthew
