« on: May 06, 2015, 07:11:32 AM »
I was wondering if there is anyone on board here who has in the past completeted this course and whom i could ask a few questions about it or who'd be willing to share some of their experiences with it.

I have not done the course yet, but I am acquainted with those who have. If you have any particular queries on the course, I can check with them to have those answered. If it is fine with you, you may share your queries in this thread.
Let's go beyond this illusion, shall we?

Thanks Vivek :) that's very kind but would have liked to hear some first hand experiences. Aparently none of the members that are currently active have done the Goenka Satipatthana course. No biggy 😊

Thanks

I was wondering how big the difference between a regular 10 day course and a Satipatthana course is in terms of technique that is being taught and intensity.
On the one hand, i can imagine a course with only more experienced meditators could be more intense because there is less noise from people walking out of the hall etc.
On the other hand, it is shorter. So in sum, are you actually able to go deeper?

technique is the same. only difference is that during every discourses you are provided a copy of satipatthana sutta and read the sutta line for line.
In a way, thorughout the 10 day course, you often hear "you are your own master". Satipatthana course gives you that ground with as you say less noise and serious meditators.
you are given every opportunity to enable you to go deeper. but it is upto the individual

Occitha Chakku: Eyes Down Cast
Tanho Bhav: Noble Silence
Bhatta Matanya: reduce the food intake.
I beleive these points help your practice go deeper.

Thanks

I have one more question. How many days are meant for Anapana and how many for the practice of Vipassana? Can't find that online.
Thanks
Marco
