Abhidhamma Teachings

I have been fascinated by Abhidhamma and been searching for an easy to understand teachings. Would recommend these to Vipassana practitioners.

Abhidhamma, as the term implies, is the Higher Teaching of the Buddha. It expounds the quintessence of His pro-found doctrine.

Not so.

From Wikipedia:

Scholars .. generally date the Abhidhamma works to originating some time around the third century BCE, 100 to 200 years after the death of the Buddha. Therefore, the seven Abhidhamma works are generally claimed by scholars not to represent the words of the Buddha himself, but those of disciples and scholars.

The Abhidhamma works are not the teachings of Buddha. They are later highly scholastic works. Probably they are a confusion on the path.

Shibata Sensei, bowmaker to the emperor of Japan, said in a teaching, "Dhamma is about cut, cut cut. Many Dhamma is wrong, build, build, build".
