Any centre with beehives?
« on: August 09, 2014, 02:58:31 PM »
Dear friends,

do you know of a vipassana meditation centre where beehives are kept?
I'd like to learn the art of beekeeping while serving.

Alternatively, any place with beehives and positive energy will go. However, I prefer ashrams or monasteries, where yogic or spiritual disciplines are practiced. Preferably in India (but not a must).

Any clues?

Many thanks in advance!
 :) :) :)

I can't help you specifically but it's becoming common in my region of the woods to rent behives - I.e you pay a company to put a behive on your property and they maintain it.

Thank you so much for replying Dharmic Tui!
But unfortunately, despite all your goodwill this is not helping me much. :)

Anyone else with any info?

If it's any additional help your practice doesn't need items of attachment like bees.

I suppose it's possible to learn something, or to have an interest in something, without necessarily becoming attached.  I would assume that a Buddhist retreat center teaching the principals of Buddhism would include the ever so important teachings of the unwholesomeness of attachments and the importance of ridding oneself of them.

Boro, perhaps try your luck asking at a larger and more active online Buddhist community.

I personally wouldn't recommend meditating near bees! ???

Yeah, you are right VinceField. I see now that this forum has only 391 members. I shall ask at a forum with a larger audience. I'll let know if I find something. Thank you and be happy.  :) :) :)

Well I pulled up good ole google and typed in "beekeeping buddhist center" and the second return was: http://meditation.com/centers/Green_Gulch_Farm_Zen_Center, which lists beekeeping as one of their interests.

I also tried "beekeeping ashram india" and got a whole page of ashrams that offer training programs in beekeeping.

Well I pulled up good ole google ...

It never ceases to amaze how people do not undertake basic research. ... Or read what websites are about:

Yeah, you are right VinceField. I see now that this forum has only 391 members. ...

There's an old saying regarding technology: RTFM - read the f****** manual:
