how to find a teacher?
« on: March 25, 2014, 09:32:42 AM »
Does anybody know how to go about finding a meditation teacher? I am in Southern California by the way. I felt silly googling it, it's not like they are on Craigslist or anything and I dont really know how to start looking. I would have continued to practice Vipassana by myself after I went to the retreat (Goenka) , but honestly, I somehow felt a little less connected from God (or source or whatever you want to call it) after than I did going in and want to have some guidance to make sure I'm not doing more harm to myself than good by choosing something that may not be right for me. Dont get me wrong, I loved the experience and what I learned ( I'm not putting down the retreat) I just dont know if that feeling was my mind trying to fool me back to old ways or if it was a deeper signal that I should perhaps tailor the technique to suit me better or find another meditation technique. Any help would be appreciated!

If you are in the US, I would recommend attending retreats by Bhante Vimalaramsi. Just google "Dhamma Sukha" and you will get the details.
Let's go beyond this illusion, shall we?
