Making Progress?

I can't tell if I'm making progress. I did a meditation for 10 minutes a little after I woke up. I was barely able to keep track of the sensation in my nose. At least I didn't get frustrated this time. After I was done I didn't feel as though I accomplished anything so I set my alarm for 20 minutes. I felt my breath a little more this time but got restless and opened my eyes about 30 seconds before my alarm went off. So anyway, how can you tell if you are making progress. Thanks in advance.

One of the best indicators or your progress is a reduction in the desire to make progress.

It's doing it (the practice, meditation) that matters. The fruits follow from it naturally. If you are chasing the fruits you will limit their arrival. Meditation is much more a non-doing, a state of mind than an activity. This state of mind is developed on the cushion in practice and spills out into your daily life influencing all around you.

what ARE the fruits? so far what I can think of is increased awareness, increased concentration, increased presence in the here and now, less suffering and more enjoyment. Any others?
