We are running a new study at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London investigating the effect of mindfulness meditation on the way we process our experiences.

The particular method we are using is highly susceptible to the effects of sex hormones, and therefore we are only studying men in this research.

If you have at least 2 years of consistent mindfulness practice (at least one formal meditation session a day at least 5 days a week) and meet the below criteria, we would like to hear from you and your help will be greatly appreciated:

- right-handed
- 18-58 years old
- fluent in English
- free from tinnitus or any other ear disorder
- with no history of psychiatric problems, neurological problems, drug abuse (any past or current use of non-prescribed drugs), or known cognitive impairment
- not on any regular medical prescription
- not drinking more than 28 units of alcohol per week (1 unit= ½ pint of beer (285mls) or 25ml of spirits    or 1 glass of wine), or more than 6 units of caffeinated beverage a day.

The study involves taking part in one experimental session, lasting for approximately 2½ - 3 hours in total, at the Department of Psychology, Addiction Science Building, 4 Windsor Walk, Denmark Hill, London.
You will be reimbursed for your participation (£30) and travel expenses.

If you are interested in participating in this study, or in learning more about the study, please contact Aseel Hamid (email:

Thank you.
