doubt in the practice about contemplating
« on: March 19, 2013, 08:50:21 AM »
hello,

buddha says contemplate on body , mental formations, feelings and consciousness.

i have a little problem understanding this so please someone explain.

contemplating the body - being aware of the bodily sensations.
contemplating the mental formations - being aware of the mental images that are formed and also thoughts that are formed by them.
contemplating the feelings - being aware of the reactions of the mind for mental formations and six senses.

am i write till now?
if not correct me, if i am then here are my next questions,

what does contemplating the consciousness mean ?
where does the mental chatting fit in the above four ? is it a mental formation?

please elaborate if possible.

if i am aware of the breath then being aware that i am aware of the breath means i am aware of the consciousness?

it doesn't make sense to me, sorry.

I'm not sure how capable I am of elaborating, it is as you have said. It is to me the apex of what we are all seeking, the awareness and realization that we are observing..
