thinking getting louder

wondering if i'm going off the rail just a bit.
When i notice the mind has wandered i switch to observing the thoughts until they dissipate then return to the breath. The last couple days the wandering thoughts have gotten louder and louder as i observe them, rather annoying. Also, i'm seeing random images now for the first time. They are quiet clear and sharp and seem to be getting more persistent; they don't fade as quickly as the thoughts. These things begin happening after the first hour of sitting.
 I know random thinking and images are normal. But is the change in quality of the thoughts and images I'm experiencing normal? Adjustment needed somewhere?

If you observe thought trains before establishment of calm it will feel mighty proud of itself and get all blown up ...

Concentrate on the sensations in the body as you breathe in and out.

When thought arises let it be and return attention to body.

First training of mind is calm/concentration: one object works best.

I had the same problem, and a monk told me to do the same thing as what Matthew just told you.  It worked.

Thanks, i'll make that adjustment. Seems I may have been giving the thoughts and images more attention than they deserve.
