On having a blank mind
« on: October 14, 2012, 08:40:10 AM »
I understand how meditation can help for mental rumination. I understand that most of human suffering comes from the mind and its thoughts. I understand that deep within us there's a place we can access, by being present in the moment, and experiencing life without preconceptions and accepting it as it is.

And I understand that meditation can help you achieve this.

But on the other hand, sometimes I feel my mind is ALWAYS blank! I was wondering if this is a good thing? Because when you think a lot you can also generate new ideas. Having an active mind has its positive side: the generation of new ideas.

So what's your view on this? Should we always have a blank mind? Is it ok to have a blank mind the whole day? Isn't thinking important as well? If thinking is important, then how do we determine when are the right moments to be mindful and the right moments to be thinking? Should we ALWAYS carry a blank mind?

       hey loka,

Mind is not blank(empty) if it were how could we practice mind-full-ness?
Mind is full of awareness, with a calm and quiet mind we are aware of how happy we are.
Thinking is important for solving problems, we just don't want to identify with our thoughts.
