Different types of meditation....
« on: September 27, 2012, 09:58:37 PM »
What do you think about other types of meditation besides the classical ones such as Vipassana? For example, I've heard about "eating meditation", "chakra meditation", "heart rhytm" meditation, etc

What do you think about them? Are they as good as vipassana? Do they really work?

Thanks

I think different types of medittion have different uses and purposes. An individual's choice of meditation technique depends a lot on what he wants out of practicing the technique: is it relaxation, stress management, emotional healing, mental purification leading to higher states of awakening, and so on. Again, whether any meditation technique is as good as any other, depends a lot on what the individual means by "good". A practitioner could be changing techniques depending on the changing needs. Nothing is set in stone.
Let's go beyond this illusion, shall we?
