New Year
« on: December 31, 2007, 11:46:33 AM »
And so we come once again to the beginning of a year - actually we are ten days in to the new year by my calendar which starts when the days in the northern hemisphere start getting longer and lighter.

May the coming year bring to us all great fruits of disciplined practice, inner peace and random things we need but do not want.

In the Dhamma,

ps I got a new cafetiere for Christmas woo !!! fresh coffee. (didn't want that or need it :D )

Happy New Year and best aspirations to everyone as we quickly stream ahead into the next moment.

I second Matthew in that the winter solstice begins the new year for me as well as embodies the true meaning of this holiday season.

Peace to you all and may all beings be free from suffering.
The best type of meditation is the one that you'll do

Here in Portugal, we have the custom of desiring people "Happy New Year".
That's a kind of metta isn't it? I noticed that I can sincerely desire a "Happy New Year" or as I put it a "Good Year" even to people I don't care about that much, there was only this Junkie whom I told "Good Year" but felt it was useless...
I wish to desire a "Good Year" to everyone in this sangha that has been very suportive.
As I say, May this new year be better than the last but worse than the ones to come.

May all beings be free from suffering.
