Title: Lying
Post by: chin on March 07, 2018, 07:08:50 AM
I've been practicing upholding my shila and of course, the hardest one is not lying because we unconsciously lie so often even if by way of exaggeration. But still I feel like I've managed, till I ran into a somewhat trickier territory. What does one do if one needs to lie in order to protect someone else's lie? For example, a friend who doesn't want people to know he is currently unemployed, and something about his "job" comes up in conversation with someone else.

It's not the lie, but how you relate to it that matters.
