Title: Needs advice regarding comeback to Vipassana
Post by: sandip250382 on February 10, 2014, 09:30:03 AM
Few years earlier, I used to practice Vipassana regularly. But for past 3 years I totally left meditation. As an obvious result, I lose patience, peace of mind, concentration and I am getting stressed very soon at easy circumstances. I  admit  that it was one of my biggest blunder to leave meditation practice, I want to start the practice very soon if not today itself, can anyone guide me how to start the meditation as nowadays I forgot the art too !!

Members here in earlier time have helped me a lot to learn this meditation,so any suggestion regarding this will be highly appreciated.

I think its better if you give more details on how you used to practice.

Were you doing body scanning ? If so were you able to remove defilements from mind ( sangharas) in your daily life by remaining equanimus to (i call it ichy yyakki sensation) sensations ?

If you ask me once you catch on to what needs to be done its very difficult to forget the art of doing that. So i believe u were still developing the foundation of meditation when you quit. If i am wrong let me know.

If yes the i would advice to take a retreat to get back on the track.

Thanks for your reply. I used to do whole body scan over different sensations and observe them. It is very difficult to get leave from my job for 10 days retreat, so not sure what to do?

Sounds like you were doing the Goenka method. If so see if there are any of the 1-day retreats near you. They are essentially refreshers.

Go to one day retreats if possible for a month.. they are held in most centers on  sundays.

Hi sandip,

If you can't make a meditation course, or wish to commence a practice sooner that will help with the kind of problems you have described, there is an introduction to meditation text on the forum here (http://www.vipassanaforum.net/forum/index.php/page,10.html) that might help.

Kind regards,

Matthew
