Title: How can we know when to use our intuition or our rational mind?
Post by: lokariototal on October 14, 2012, 09:04:00 AM
In what situations should we use our intuition? In what situations should we use our natural mind? Which one should we follow, when they contradict each other? How can I develop my intuition more?

The natural mind is (in my opinion) the mind that is free of the five hindrances (sensual desire, ill-will, sloth/torpor, restlessness and doubt). So I would say we should always aim to use the natural mind only :)
I think what people often call intuition is actually quite a dangerous thing. The five hindrances can make irrational choices seem natural, the right thing to do. I think it's possible that people who think they're following their intuition, are actually following a clouded mind.
In conclusion: In every situation, try to be mindful of the five hindrances so you can keep a clear and natural mind. This requires a lot of practice but it's worth it :)

Trust your intuition more than your thinking. This is an extension of "trust your experience", including "inner experience" or intuition.
